CARLSWALD – Jouberts Attorneys based in Carlswald put a different spin on their year-end function and decided that instead of having a big function, they would rather have a small function and use the rest of the funds budgeted for the extravagant bash to assist a community that is in dire need of basic necessities.

After an analysis, the team decided on Munsieville outside Krugersdorp, a mixed community of families living in council-erected zinc houses placed on a flattened municipal dump with only basic amenities available.

“We approached SG Convenience through one of its sales managers Danie Botes who approached some of South Africa’s biggest food distributors and suppliers for donations. Various members of the public heeded the call and delivered a variety of foodstuffs and clothing to our offices,” said principal of the practice, Daan Joubert.

The attorneys received enormous donations from companies including SG Convenience, Kellogg’s SA, Premier Foods, Pioneer Foods, Tiger Brands, Colgate, New Beginnings and Albany.

They made up a parcel for each of the 105 households of Munsieville comprising food, water, beverages and clothing.

Supergroup provided Jouberts with transport on 27 November to deliver the parcels in Munsieville.

“A special word of appreciation to Hair by Jurie, who washed and cut the hair of the children of the community,” said Joubert.

Proving that it, indeed, takes a village to make a difference, individuals such as Andre Prinsloo also lent a hand in making the day a great one for the community. “[He] helped make about 100 hot dogs and handed out party packs consisting of a variety of sweets, popcorn and chips to all the children,” said Joubert.
